The fitness craze of a few years back is over, or at least the media is not in to it anymore. Have you noticed all the chubby actors in TV commercials these days. I guess the advertisers are trying to make us feel ok about being fat.
Well I don't buy it and a lot of others feel the same way cause the fitness industry is doing well in Las Vegas. The big clubs are hanging in there, but the competition is brutal. Gold's Gym, Las Vegas athletic Club and 24Hour Fitness are the big players. I have a membership with 24, corporate, grandfathered in at 10 $ a month, sweet. I will never drop that one. Even when I didn't go work out for two years I kept it up. So cheap for a membership in a full featured health club. The bean counters would hate that I'm now using the club two days a week. Yea I got smart (scared) and started working out again.
Ya see, these outfits hope you will buy a membership, try it a few times , and never come back but have to pay your contract. Sometimes it works out that way but others find that exercise makes them feel better and find the time to go. There is also a social aspect to it and casual friendships form.
I go to my club twice a week. Once to lift weights and once for aerobics. ( more about aerobics later) I also go to another club to work out because there are alternatives to the big public gyms and that will be the subject of my next post.
