I must pause the story of our trip for a sad reason. Las Vegas has lost one of our finest citizens. Polly Gonzalez, news anchor for channel 8 was killed in a car accident yesterday, a few miles south of Death Valley. She was returning from California with her two daughters and decided to drive through the valley and see the flowers. Luckily the girls were not badly hurt.
An Emmy winner, Polly reported news with intelligence and compassion. She was proud to be the first Hispanic anchorwoman in Las Vegas and was active in, and an inspiration to the Latin community. She will be greatly missed
