Yep, it's raining. Vegas has the most entertaining TV weather forecasters anywhere. They have great graphics, white smiles and slick deliveries, but they get their information from NOAA, just like every other weather forecast. And you can too. HTTP://www.wrh.noaa.gov Start here and you can drill down to your area or town. The newest version has those great graphics a and lots of features like satellite pictures and my favorite, the forecast discussion. This is a log by the very guys doing the interpretation of the computer models of the weather. Check it out. Here is where your local weather person is getting the scoop on what's coming up. It is a bit technical, they use three different computed models and compare them to make their best guess. I don't understand much of it but it is fun to read.
What is really interesting is how rarely they get it right. Our guys said it would start to rain Wed. But it didn't start till Fri. Even with the big computers and lots of experience the pros can't compete with mother earth's foibles. The best way to check the weather is still to stick your head outdoors and look around.
Global warming is a big topic these days. I think that climate changes happen all the time and it is no big deal to the earth which has ways to regulate things and keep things stable enough for life to go on. (however the earth doesn't care about us people so we may have to watch out) Still there are many sides to this global warming thing and I am going to publish some thoughts about it on "Adaven at Large" in a few days.
You can get there from http://www.adaven.net
If I can get myself to tackle the html I'll put a permanent link to Las Vegas weather on this blog.
