Death Valley

Living Las Vegas means sometimes leaving Las Vegas to visit some great places in the vicinity. This year has been very wet, and in the desert that means that things will grow. This year the desert is full of plants that may not have been around for years and one of the best places to see them is the unique environment that is Death Valley.
So over the hills and to the west we go, with Gizmo in toe, to see what's growed.
I'm going to post for a few days about this trip. We went the southern route. The shorter middle way is washed out so we drove through Topeka north to Shoshone and into the south intrence to the park. Two land greytop with woop to doos that Gizmo did not care for. Read that as stops to clean up puke. But as we cleared the last pass and started dropping in to the valley, it was amazing. Cars are parked all along the road. People are walking out into the desert and taking pictures. Everyone has a camera. The hillsides are yellow and there are patches of orange and purple and white. We stop and join in the wonder of it.
Now I am a poor photographer but I'm trying to capture some of it because this hasn't happened for years and I may never see it again.

Here is a link to my photo album of Death Valley this year. There are also pictures of Scotty's Castle. http://www.adaven.net/pic/deathvalley/

This is just the first day of our long weekend so more soon.
